Day 32 SEO for Used Car Dealers - Getting Ranked in Other Cities

More Automotive SEO All Daily Tips

Today's tip: build a real city page for the nearby towns you want buyers from.

You want to rank for a town you're not located in. It's an uphill fight - but there's a right way to give yourself a shot.

The standard build

Say you're in Raleigh and you want Wake Forest traffic. The slug is yourdealership.com/wake-forest-used-cars-for-sale. The meta title and H1 say close to the same thing. The first sentence of the first paragraph uses that phrase. That's the standard setup for any page you want to rank (Day 14) - it tells Google immediately what the page is about.

Then earn it

List the vehicles you want to show that buyer. Then write real content about Wake Forest itself - not the same paragraph with the city name swapped in. City-swapped pages are exactly what Google's doorway-page rule throws out. Real content specific to the town is what separates a page Google keeps from a page Google ignores.

The best piece: neighbors

Pull testimonials from customers who actually live there. "Rob T., Wake Forest, NC." Now somebody in that town sees a neighbor already made the drive to your lot. (Short on reviews to pull from? Day 27.)

Be realistic about the ceiling

You probably won't crack the map pack - physical location is too heavy a factor, and the dealers actually in that town will win it. But regular search results, especially in the smaller towns around a bigger city, are absolutely winnable.
